As a leader in steel production for food applications, beverage, aerosol and industrial cans, along with easy-open-ends (EoEs) and caps, ArcelorMittal Europe Flat Products – Packaging has an industrial network of 4 production plants, supported by 5 steel service centres and a global R&D centre.
ArcelorMittal Packaging Europe Production Plants
Avilés, Spain
Located in Asturias, the Avilés production plant is a steelworks with cold-rolling facilities that span the entire coated product portfolio including two coating lines for tinplate and DWI production.
It can also provide with Chromium Free Tinplate and Low Tin Steel (LTS).
Basse-Indre, France
Located on the north bank of the Loire river, 10km from the port of Nantes, the Basse-Indre production plant is fully dedicated to packaging steel with 1 cutting line.
The plant produces the most advanced steel grades in tinplate and Tin Free Steel (TFS). It can also provide with Chromium Free Tinplate and Low Tin Steel (LTS).
Etxebarri, Spain
Located in the Basque Country in Spain and 10km from the Bilbao port, the Etxebarri production plant produces tinplate, Tin Free Steel (TFS) and black plate electro-galvanised.
Florange, France
Strategically located near the Luxembourg, Belgian and German borders, the Florange production plant, equipped with a cutting line, provides a wide range of products. Among them: low-thicknesses, DWI and steel for bottle caps.

Barcelona, Spain
CASISA is our Steel Service Centre dedicated to packaging business in Spain. The Barcelona centre is specialised in short-time deliveries.
Having a wide range of products available, cutting is made following customer’s specifications and needed dimensions. Its strategic location close to Barcelona seaport allows quick deliveries worldwide.
Certified ISO9001, 100 % of the goods are guaranteed according to the EuroNorm 10202.
Canossa, Italy
The Canossa-located steel service centre processes steel coils into sheets for just-in-time delivery to metal packaging manufacturers.
Upgraded with 4 shearing lines (straight or scroll cuts) and 1 slitting line, it is the leading service centre for tinplate in Italy.
Llanera, Spain
CASISA is our Steel Service Centre dedicated to packaging business in Spain. The Asturian centre is specialised in just-in-time deliveries.
Ideally located close to the Aviles plant, it provides on-call delivery with a cost-effective transport. CASISA also offers support for scroll dies manufacture and scrolled sheets delivery.

Global R&D centres
Maizières-lès-Metz
ArcelorMittal Maizières is ArcelorMittal's and Global R&D's largest research site, with 52,000 m² of offices, laboratories and pilot units. It comprises three research centres: Maizières Process, Maizières Products and Bars & Wires, all operating on a worldwide basis. An operational support unit provides the appropriate assistance to these centres. The campus also hosts members of Global R&D's central teams.
Maizières Process innovates in new technologies, state-of-the-art measuring systems and digital development throughout the steel production chain: from the blast furnaces, coking plants, sinter plants, steel shops, etc. to the final rolling, annealing, metallic and organic coating lines, etc. It is also active in the field of iron ore characterisation and improvement of enrichment processes.
Maizières Products works on the development of new products, new metallurgical processes, new coatings for the Automotive and Packaging markets, whose customers expect cost-effective solutions that will enable them to reduce weight and improve performance.
