At ADF 2026 Paris Porte de Versailles, on stand Z20, ArcelorMittal invited its stakeholders to discuss on the key drivers shaping the European aerosol industry today: innovation as a whole, lightweighting and BPA-NI.
According to the European Aerosol Federation (FEA), aerosol production in the EU reached 3.4 billion units in 2024, a strong 4% increase over 2023—showcasing a renewed momentum and a return to growth.
With applications in medical, personal care and household, this industry is very concerned with health and safety, as well as with carbon footprint and circularity.
ArcelorMittal, as a European leader of steel for packaging, supplies all European aerosol steel cans manufacturers in Europe.
At ADF 2026, ArcelorMittal invited its stakeholders to explore the key drivers shaping the European aerosol industry: innovation, sustainability and regulation.
European manufacturers need to innovate constantly, in all possible directions. ArcelorMittal’s strengths include our R&D and technical supports teams, as well as our design, assessment and testing assets. We undertake innovation programmes with customers on topics such as lightweighting, BPA-NI and CFPA solutions.
ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products has extensive on-going R&D lightweighting programmes carried out jointly with our customers. All steel parts of the aerosol are involved, and the programmes cover from early design simulations to the implementation in the workshop.

To give consumers peace of mind whilst enabling can makers to standardise production across markets, ArcelorMittal proposes a BPA-NI pre-lacquered steel for aerosol mounting cups which is also PFAS-free. This innovation is backed by in-depth extensive trials and testing steps involving all actors in the supply chain from material supplier to brand owner. Customers have validated its excellent formability, adhesiveness, and resistance to several aerosol contents. Hundreds of millions of mounting cups have been produced using our fully industrialised product.
The Aerosol and Dispensing Forum (ADF) is the world’s only annual event dedicated to driving innovation, business, and knowledge in the global aerosol and dispensing sector. ADF is held as part of Paris Packaging Week. In addition to ADF, Paris Packaging Week includes separate events dedicated to packaging for personal care (PCD) and the premium drinks sector (PLD).
